For children in rural Nigeria, education is the only true pathway out of poverty. Thanks to the generosity of so many—especially the Lipari family—that pathway is now open.
After months of prayer, planning, and construction, The Lipari Learning Academy joyfully opened its doors this September. More than 125 students in grades K–6 are now receiving a quality education—many for the very first time in their lives.
A School That Changes Everything
The Academy serves children from eight surrounding communities, children who once faced daily walks of 5–10 miles on unsafe roads just to reach crumbling public schools with no furniture, no supplies, and limited hope. Now, for the first time, a modern school stands in Ihitte-Uboma, offering safety, dignity, and opportunity.

Alongside academic excellence, students are also formed in the Catholic faith, while local employment opportunities bring stability to families.
“We are honored to pay it forward,” shared the Lipari family. “The Bible encourages each of us to share our time, talent, and treasure with those in need. We feel blessed to be servants to others.”
About the Lipari Learning Academy
- Enrollment: 125 children (K–6), selected based on greatest need. More than 200 applicants are already on a waiting list.
- Facilities: 12 classrooms (capacity 40–45 each), on-campus teacher housing, and a protective wall for safety.
- Transportation: Two school buses funded by donors, bringing children from nearby villages.
- Nutrition & Health: Students receive a daily hot meal and clean drinking water—often their only reliable source of both.
- Employment: 29 staff members, including 10 teachers, drivers, administrators, and support staff. Providing good local jobs is a vital extension of our mission.
- Budget: Annual operating costs total $125,000, including $52,000 for salaries—life-changing opportunities for the community. While these costs are very modest to most of us, they represent significant wages for people in this community.
“As I watched this miracle unfold, I thought about each of our donors who made this possible,” said Fr. Simon. “This school is the most important chance these families have to end poverty. Truly, this is the work of God through your kindness.”

The Lipari Learning Academy is thriving, but our children still depend on you. Annual expenses for teachers, food, water, transportation, and basic operations cannot be met without ongoing donor support.
